ADVERTISING INDUSTRY HONORS EXCELLENCE IN MARKETING; ALLIANCE FOR DIGITAL EQUALITY BOARD MEMBER WILLIAM “BILL” LAMAR AMONG INDUSTRY LEGENDS TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE ADVERTISING HALL OF FAME

William “Bill” Lamar joins Inductees from ABC News, Benton & Bowles, Fallon Worldwide, McCann Erickson, Oxygen Media, American Advertising Federation and P & G to be Recognized
Atlanta, Ga., March 8, 2010 — The Alliance for Digital Equality (ADE) is pleased to announce that one of its board members, William “Bill” Lamar, former Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s USA, has been elected to the Advertising Hall of Fame, the highest award bestowed within the industry. In receiving this industry honor, he joins an illustrious group of 193 advertising legends that have significantly raised the standard of excellence in the advertising industry.
Lamar is among eight industry pioneers to be inducted into the prestigious American Advertising Federation’s Advertising Hall of Fame® during an awards luncheon Thursday, March 25, 2010, at New York\'s historic Waldorf=Astoria hotel. The American Advertising Federation administers these awards on behalf of the entire advertising community.

Proctor & Gamble, P&G is the first corporation to be inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame.

Bill Lamar joins the ranks of other African-American industry luminaries into the distinguished Advertising Hall of Fame, including: Clarence Holte (1909–1993), the first African-American executive on Madison Avenue whose studies of ethnic markets led to the development of the first-known ad campaign specifically targeted at African-Americans, helping to raise the awareness of minority media and its potential value to all major advertisers and William “Bill” Sharp, an advertising pioneer who opened doors for African-Americans in the industry through mentoring and by spearheading the Basic Ad Course at J. Walter Thompson, as well as serving as the first African-American Vice President/Advertising Manager at The Coca-Cola Company.
